The larvae of the red tribolium are off-white in colour. In adulthood the body is the colour of rust and is between 3 and 4 mm in size. They eat starchy and floury foodstuffs, stored cereals as well as grain legumes, nuts including peanuts, sesame, castor, chocolate and cocoa.
